This summer has flown, I can't believe I haven't written in my journal for 8 days! Well my life has been anything but boring. Last Monday night I got home from putting in a ten hour day to find the house left wide open and no one around. The phone rang and it was my husband saying... Anne, I don't want you to get upset, but I am in the emergency room. Kara was going to the movies with a friend of hers, when he lost control of the car and hit a pole and tree and a stone wall going 45 miles an hour... they are fine some bruising and scrapes, the car is totalled. I really was in shock.. two car accidents in three weeks. There are no words to explain the feeling within... I got in the car and drove to the emergency room. Kara was a little banged up,had some burns from the air bag and some glass in her arm... I was told that her side of the windshield had shattered as well as the window next to her and the back window. The emts said they were saved because they had thier seat belts on...Again I feel blessed, but am thinking of buying her a protective bubble suit... Teenage years.. am I too old to go through this once again?
Well everything turned out ok..other than I aged a few years in a matter of minutes. I got home and got ready for our next adventure..we left the next morning for an overnight canoe trip with our kids and some of their friends...and now Kara knew she was a princess as she could not paddle with her sore arm.
The trip down the Saco river was spectactular. We canoed 19 miles over two days. It really is a great adventure. The first day you canoe until you find a beach of your choosing and claim it as yours for the night. We found a great one to stay on. The boys all jumped off a cliff into the water.. we had a great healthy meal( plus samores)..some ghost stories around the campfire...and just a fantastic time.
I think I am glad in some aspects that the summer is coming to an end. I still have ten pounds to go.. but have been actually lean living this past month while my husband has been on vacation, I had not intended on doing this at the beginning of the summer, but summer in the north is short... and I like to play... Actually I am amazed at how I have been in control of food and my eating plan, while actually taking a day a week to eat what I want. Maintenance does work and this is the first time I have held my weight during the summer. But the time has come to go back on my plan..give up my maintenance program and get the remainder of this weight off.
I don't regret the decisions I have made. It has really slowed my progress... but this is my life...my journey...my reality and now again I am ready to get back in total focus.
I decided to put up a pic of me last summer and one that was taken the other day....
Have a great weekend all
