It is so important to know where you are headed.  We all set goals for ourselves.  Those of us who are overweight know right from the get go what we would like to weigh.  There are three questions I ask myself regarding my goal(whether it is weight or life related or both)
First:
What am I doing to accomplish the results I want?
I think too often we rely on others...the doctor.. or on things.. diet pills.. or a fad diet.  In reality we must do for ourselves, we are our only obstacle..
Positive thinking must turn into positive action for goals to be reached. It takes determination and perserverance.
Second:
Is the goal I set for myself realistic?
Sometimes when we make a decision to reach a dream we go hog wild. In the first flush of determination we set a goal that is impossible.  We set ourselves up to fail. When self realization sets in we more often, than not, give up rather than revise.  Mini goals our great if the long term goal is in the distant future.  Start small and build upon it.
Third:
What has my present accomplishment taught me about myself that I can apply in the future?
It is so important to assess your situation, both the good and the bad  honestly. Take what has been successful and continue in that vein.  Get rid of what hasn't helped or has perhaps hindered you.
These questions can be used as a guide in your journey.  Periodically checking them will allow for better progress.   Realistic goals are a wonderful thing... Happy journey to you!!!
